Supporting Those Who Have Bravely Served Our Nation

Celebrating 100 Years of Community, Empowerment, and Legacy!

🍕A Slice of Summer 🍉

The Punta Gorda Woman’s Club continued its tradition of honoring local veterans with a welcoming August dinner filled with fellowship and appreciation. Guests enjoyed an abundant buffet of pizza, chicken wings, fresh salads, fruit, watermelon and assorted desserts while sharing conversation and laughter. It was another meaningful evening dedicated to reminding our veterans that their service and sacrifices are remembered with heartfelt gratitude.

🍕Fresh Ingredients, Homemade Flavor🍕

Marco’s pizzas were layered with rich tomato sauce, shredded cheese and grated Romano, then topped in delicious combinations of pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms and sliced onions. Each pizza was prepared by hand and baked until golden, bubbly and ready to share.

Because happiness is homemade—and best served by the slice!

A July Evening Served with Gratitude

It was a simple evening with a meaningful purpose: to let our veterans know that their service is remembered, their sacrifices are valued and their company is always welcome. Around the table, conversation flowed, smiles were shared and new connections were made—small moments that turned an ordinary dinner into something truly special.

For the Punta Gorda Woman’s Club, these gatherings are about more than serving a meal. They are about showing up, spending time together and expressing our gratitude in the most personal way we know—through friendship, fellowship and a warm place at the table.

December Memories from the Punta Gorda Woman's Club

The Punta Gorda Woman’s Club carried the spirit of the season delivering cookies to our veterans.

Christmas Cookies for Our Veterans 🎄🍪❤️

This December, the Punta Gorda Woman’s Club carried the spirit of the season straight from our members’ homes into the hearts of our veterans. Each volunteer baked an assortment of Christmas cookies in her own kitchen, filling containers with family recipes and festive favorites. The air was rich with the scent of cinnamon, chocolate, and holiday cheer as ovens across Punta Gorda worked their magic.

Once baked, the cookies were lovingly delivered to Beth’s house, where the next stage of the tradition unfolded. Her dining table became a workshop of joy as members gathered to sort, divide, and arrange the cookies into generous assortments. Paper plates were transformed into holiday gifts, decorated with chocolate-covered pretzel sticks, candy canes, and Hershey’s kisses — each plate a little bundle of sweetness and gratitude.

Together, the women laughed, shared stories, and admired the colorful plates that soon would brighten someone else’s day. When the cookies were delivered to our veterans, the plates carried more than just treats. They carried the warmth of community, the gratitude of neighbors, and the reminder that service and sacrifice are never forgotten.

It was a simple act — baking, sharing, decorating — yet it embodied the very heart of the season: giving with love, honoring with gratitude, and celebrating with joy.

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Let's thank our committee members, Kriss Puffer, Linda Bujko, Beth Bouquot, Anne Dehlinger, Adrienne Kreger, Holly Gunsher, and photographer Kathy Isola. 🍪🤗

This year, the Punta Gorda Woman’s Club extended the spirit of gratitude by providing a fully catered Thanksgiving meal from Bob Evans, made possible through PGWC funds. Veterans gathered around tables filled with traditional favorites — tender turkey, savory sides, and comforting desserts — all prepared with care and delivered with love.

Through this effort, PGWC ensured that the holiday was not only about food, but about fellowship, dignity, and the joy of sharing abundance. It was a reminder that when a community comes together, everyone has a place at the table.

Veterans Dinner Celebration: A Tribute of Thanks and Flavor

The Veterans Dinner was a beautiful evening of gratitude and community, made all the more special by the heartfelt efforts of our volunteer team. Cathy and Glenn Evans, and Jody and Tim Henkel took the lead on the main entrée, firing up the grill for a classic cookout. The side dishes were a true team effort: Melanie Watkins and Reginia Eldridge both served up baked beans, while Peggy LaRose and Beth Quinn each prepared their signature potato salads. Maureen Blouin brought crisp, tangy coleslaw and watermelon wedges. Reginia Eldridge also contributed a refreshing green salad. For dessert, Rosemary Martinez treated everyone to three generous sheet cakes accompanied by ice cream. Claudia Meyers kept everyone refreshed with a selection of sodas.

❤️🤍💙

A heartfelt thank you to all who gave their time and talents—your care and contributions helped create a warm and memorable celebration for our veterans.

Heartfelt Thank You's 💙

The impact of this gathering was felt deeply by those we honored. One veteran, Ivy, shared:

“Thank you for providing such a delicious meal for the veterans at VOA Veterans Village on Friday, June 27. I thoroughly enjoyed every bite!”

Her words reflect the warmth and appreciation shared by all who attended.
